David Yates, son of our founder, explains:
“The treatment my dad got from Mountbatten Isle of Wight was unreal, unbelievable. We wanted to give something back.”
That’s why, for every bottle of Old Man Yatesy sold, we donate 5p directly to Mountbatten Isle of Wight, helping to support the charity’s vital services across the Island.
Mountbatten provides compassionate end-of-life care 24 hours a day, with the majority of its support delivered in people’s homes, alongside inpatient and day services for Islanders and their families.

Old Man Yatesy is more than just a beer – it’s a tribute to the man who started it all.
Handcrafted in small batches at our brewery in Newchurch, this rich dark ale is brewed using David Yates Senior’s original recipes. Carefully crafted by our head brewer, Josh Davies, Old Man Yatesy delivers warming flavours and aromas of raisins, plum and roasted malt, complemented by oats and wheat for a smooth finish.
Typically brewed at 7.2% ABV, it’s a characterful ale designed to be savoured.
